One of my favorite holidays to celebrate with family is Easter. We are not religious so we use it as an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company! We always celebrate in Brooklyn, NY with my Nana’s sister (my great aunt; emphasis on GREAT!!) Auntie Tina!! It’s her holiday, meaning she hosts, and she lives in Brooklyn so we go to visit her! She’s an awesome great-aunt! She is very supportive and interested in what is going on in our lives! I am very lucky to have someone like her in my life!
Auntie Tina works with young children in Brooklyn and is so kind and soft spoken! She makes the best homemade gifts. She is very thoughtful and always thinks about others!! I appreciate her sweetness!!
When we were younger my Nana was living in Ireland and didn’t make it back for Easter. So my mom, brother and I would go to Brooklyn to celebrate Easter. Back then, our original plan for the day used to be having a picnic under the Brooklyn Bridge (DUMBO) at the most beautiful park! We would have sandwiches, homemade salads, chips and sodas! It was magical!! We’d talk, play games and ride the carousel. All the fun would be followed by chocolate at Jack Tousou’s!! You must try the wicked hot chocolate. Seriously so awesome!!
Now that we are all older, my Nana is back and the last couple of years Easter has been cold, we go out to a late lunch at a restaurant called Marco Polo! When I was in college I couldn’t go because I did volunteer trips during spring break! Now I’ve gone for two years and I love it!! The menu is always a prefix but you have options for each course! You get an appetizer, entree, and dessert!! This year I got the mushroom ragu pasta, the sirloin steak, and the chocolate mousse!! The food was amazing!! When we get there we got drinks and I tried the fresh berry sangria and holy moly it was freaking fantastic!!!
It was so nice to catch up with Auntie Tina, her son Peter and his girlfriend Casi!! The conversation flowed and everyone was just so happy to be together. I loved every second of it!!
After lunch, Auntie Tina gave us our Easter bags filled with candy!! The Easter Bunny still comes when you’re an adult! She makes it a really fun day and each year is special with her!
On our drive home we stopped at Milkmade ice cream tasting bar! It was a small spot that made signature flavors! They had 7 types of waffle cones too!! I tried the vanilla bean made with brown sugar and the Prospect Perk which was coffee and cookie dough combined!! It was very yummy!!!
Overall such an awesome day filled with lots of love! I look forward to it every year! My family has pretty strict traditions and we stick to them! I’m glad we have them because I have the best memories thanks to them!!
Hope you had a great day with family!!
