Skincare Routine!

July 25, 2019

Everyday I hear from someone how important it is to take care of your skin but I never really put much thought into it until recently. About two years ago my mom made me go with her to get makeup from a department store which lead me to getting face serums and moisturizers. I won’t name the specific brand because I no longer use that brand but it did the job at the time!

So my mom was very clear that I needed a face serum, moisturizer and eye cream. All of this sounded pretty intimidating because at the time I was just washing my face with whatever face wash was on sale.

I really wanted to be committed to taking care of my skin because I had just started working in the pharmaceutical industry and was learning about the ingredients that were being used in cosmetic products as well as pharmaceutical ones. The products I was using were great until I started looking at the ingredients. They had fragrances, sodium lauryl sulfate, silica, and other ingredients I did not want to use on my face. I’ve used these previously in the lab to make pharmaceutical products and after seeing the certificate of analysis and safety data sheets I wanted to make a conscious effort to revamp my makeup and skincare.

Two FabFitFun boxes ago, I received a sample of a Vitamin C serum from Live No BS. I was so intrigued to use it and to understand what their brand stood for. I also got a sample of a gentle face cleanser from Tula. Both of these have been advertised as being better for your skin and health. So I figured let’s try them out and switch over from my more harsh products.

Immediately I fell in love with the Tula cleanser. When I use it, I get this weird sensation that the dirt and grime on my face is being wiped away. It’s not super foamy like other cleansers but leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. Definitely recommend for anyone who has slightly oily skin like me.

As for the Vitamin C serum I was so confused at first. It had this funky smell to it that I just could not understand. It wasn’t good or bad just different. So I did some research and the company does explain on their website that since they do not use fragrances, the serum may smell a little funky. Cool not a big deal. I used the serum religiously for two weeks along with my moisturizer and night cream from the previous brand I was using. My skin definitely got brighter so that was a plus.

I then decided to order a trial box to test out other skincare products by NO BS. I chose to keep the moisturizer and hyaluronic day and night cream since they felt amazing on my skin! I ordered the retinol cream from FabFitFun to try out in my next box!!

I am officially switched over to No BS products and couldn’t be happier. My skin loves it and I have peace of mind knowing I’m not destroying my face. So I’ll break down my routine for you.

All of my No BS products I use!
Here is my skin straight out of the shower!

I shower normally, but at the end I turn up the heat slightly to make some steam!

I run my hands under the hot water and gently place on my face to continue to open my pores!

I take a dime size amount of Tula cleanser and rub all over my face until it slightly foams. I love a good face massage so I do some self love at this step.

I wash off the cleanser, jump out of shower, get dressed, etc.

I start with the Vitamin C serum and place three lines on my face; one on my forehead, one on my left cheek and one on my right cheek. I rub it in to really get it into my skin. I also make sure to get my neck too!!

Vitamin C serum is step 1!
How to apply Vitamin C serum!

I let the serum dry for 5 minutes, so I brush my teeth, do my hair or hug my dog lol!

After 5 minutes I take one pump of the moisturizer and place dots of it all over my face and then rub it in!

Moisturizer time!! It has SPF which is so important!
How to apply moisturizer!

I follow up with the hyaluronic acid day and night cream applied in a similar fashion as the moisturizer!

Hyaluronic Acid cream is next!!
How to apply Hyaluronic Acid Cream!

Usually at this point I’d apply eye cream but I have yet to commit to any but definitely put it on if you have it!! And boom! I’m done!! I usually put my shoes on and perfume and deodorant then will go in and put makeup on if I need to.

It’s so simple and this routine can be done in 5-7 mins! What my face looks like after is at the top!

I really love these products and wouldn’t share them with you if I didn’t actually use them!! I’m hoping to invest in the No BS caffeine eye cream in the next few weeks to round out my collection!!

I hope the videos help too!! I’ve never done videos so be kind friends!!! Haha

Have a great Thursday!!

Xoxo, Z
