2019 Recap and 2020 Goals

January 2, 2020

I can’t believe it but 2019 has come to a close and 2020 is a fresh new beginning. Here’s a little recap of 2019 and what I am looking forward to in 2020.

I can say that 2019 has been a year of growth for me both personally and professionally. I left a job that was absolutely destroying me. I cried over how terrible it was one too many times but the silver lining came and I found my current job that I can say whole heartedly has opened my eyes to how an employee should be treated. I had to hit the lowest of lows to get to this point. At the same time all that was happening, I decided to try medication for my anxiety/OCD. And let me tell you gosh darnit that was the absolute best decision of 2019. It is hard for me to describe the freeing feeling it brought me. I participated in activities I never in my life could’ve even thought of doing. And for those of you needing examples: I started exercising routinely with Barre 3, I went to networking events alone in Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore, I flew by myself to Fort Lauderdale where I spent a wonderful time with a friend, I then flew to St. Marteen for my 25th birthday, I drove to Brooklyn and spent valuable time with an amazing friend. Everything in between was substantial too but these are situations I never thought I’d experience. Truly grateful for scientific advancements. I started my master’s program and finished my first quarter with a 3.8! I did not get a GPA anywhere near this in my undergraduate program so this is a huge accomplishment in my life. Lastly, this space on the internet has grown immensely! I have an awesome following of people who genuinely care about what I have to say. I appreciate this blog and all of you more than anything.

Now looking forward for 2020.

Big news #1: I got a second job working Front Desk at the Barre 3 studio. I feel such a connection with the ladies I’ve met and I couldn’t be more excited to take this opportunity and run with it!

Goals:
-Pay attention to myself and what I want and feel. I want to acknowledge each moment and really take it in. I’m going to try and do this by keeping up with my planner and jotting things down throughout the day.

-Exercise better. I feel like we talk about doing something more but never better. I want to put my physical health at the top of the list just like I did my mental health.

-Along with exercise better is eating better. I am a woman who loves fried foods even though they are not the best for me. I want to start looking at food with a “will this serve me” kind of attitude.

-Be more consistent and grow the blog. I was given a really great camera for Christmas and I am hoping to start taking my own pictures to become the blogger I want to be. I want to develop my aesthetic more. I don’t necessarily want more numbers because that isn’t what I am super concerned about. I want to focus on being authentic and sharing that with you all.

-I would love to get back into reading tangible books. I love listening to podcasts and audible books but while I’m at PT I read while I’m under heat which I have been truly enjoying.

-I want to travel more and better. I want to find great deals to locations I’ve never been! Michael has brought up Ireland and Chicago. I even thought about Maine and Canada. I feel comfortable enough to do these things with a freer mind so I am excited to see where this year takes us!

Thank you for tagging along. It means the world to me.
