Buying Glasses Online

March 14, 2019

So I’m gonna start off with being really honest with you all…I’m as blind as a bat. I can’t see far and I can’t see close aka I’m nearsighted and farsighted. I’ve worn glasses since I was about five or six and switched to contacts when I was in high school. In college I would usually wear my glasses to class since I basically rolled out of bed most days. At night and on the weekends I would pop in my contacts but I’ve spent most of my life wearing glasses. And for all that time they were insanely expensive especially for progressive bifocal. Progressive bifocals have a no-show line in the lens that smoothly transitions from my distance prescription to my reading one. I wore the same pair of glasses in college for about 5 years. I would get the lenses changed but frames at the eye doctor were so expensive. When I graduated and got my first big girl job I splurged and bought my black Kate Spade frames and progressive lenses. They cost me a pretty penny (about $400). I’ve had them for about three years and wanted to explore the option of getting a new pair. Focus on the one pair option I mentioned.

I started looking on the fabulous inter webs and found a few websites that looked pretty reputable. I started with Zenni Optical because I automatically was blown away that their frame options started at $6.95!!! That’s nuts!!! I figured I’d be spending at least $100 on frames and another $100 if not more on the lenses. Well let me tell you..I spent $150 on TWO pairs of glasses!!!

I picked two frames each costing $6.95 which is a steal! And the progressive lenses we’re $73.00 at 1.67 digital free form and the anti-reflective coating which was $4.95 totaling $84.90 for each pair. I’m shocked, appalled, and in utter disbelief. So I placed the order with my 10% off coupon for signing up!! I got my confirmation email and it said they’d be at my door in three weeks!!! To say I was excited is a complete understatement! I couldn’t stop talking about them!!

The following week I was thinking how cool would it be if I could have a different pair of glasses for each day of the week?!!! So I went looking and found EyeBuyDirect which was recommended to me by another blogger.

Their frames ranged from $4.80 to $50 and above. The deal they had was 30% off your total which I was super stoked for!! I read the fine print and one of the lenses had to be more than $20 so I chose a pair for $30 and a pair for $10 which isn’t bad. The same 1.67 progressive no lenses were put in that had the anti reflective coating and I bought em! They were $150 also and would take two weeks to come in!

So for four pairs of glasses I spent $300 which is less than what I paid for my everyday pair I’ve had for three years!! What a steal!!!

Two weeks and 5 days went by and my Zenni glasses came in!!! I chose a leopard rectangle frame with soft curved edges and a bold purple square frame! I fell in absolute love!!! They were so flattering and my prescription was perfect!!! I was like a little kid running around FaceTiming people to show them off!!! I wore them the next two days and got so many compliments.

A week later I got my EyeBuyDirect glasses!! I ordered a mint green more circular frame and a completely clear frame!! They were out of my comfort zone but looked great!!! I put them into my routine!!

I turned wearing glasses into an accessory and I’m obsessed!! I am so glad I bought them!!

I will say I think I prefer the Zenni glasses a slight bit more because they have more affordable cute options at $7. Don’t get me wrong the EyeBuyDirect were great I think I liked the trends on the other website slightly more!!!

If you are interested in getting new glasses I can’t recommend these two brands enough!!! I got exactly what I wanted and I am so happy!!!

Hope this is helpful!! I’ll try to do these types of reviews more often!!
